Twenty-two rooms, one light study
Hotels are judged in the first ten minutes and again at six in the morning. We spent a week in the building with a lux meter before drawing anything, mapping how the harbour light moved across each floor through the day.
Sleeping through it
Rooms on the east elevation carry a double layer of unbleached linen so guests sleep past sunrise. Rooms facing the courtyard take a single sheer, because the light arrives late and gently there.
Public rooms use the opposite logic. The bar is darkest at noon and warmest at nine.
