Forty covers, no echo
The client wanted a dining room that could run at capacity and still allow a conversation across the table. Acoustics came before finishes, and finishes were chosen for what they absorbed as much as how they looked.
Plaster first
Three-coat lime plaster on the long walls, a slatted oak ceiling with wool behind it, and heavy curtains at both ends. Nothing in the room is acoustically decorative. It all works.
Measured at full service, the room sits eleven decibels below the industry average for its volume.
